250 S. Wacker Case Study.pdf

250 South Wacker in Chicago is now operational with active chilled beams installed on the perimeter.  DADANCO is currently giving guided tours of the building to foster better understanding of active chilled beam systems and their application.  This building has undergone a complete refurbishment and now has the prestigious position of being one of the first commercial buildings in the US installed and operating with active chilled beams.

DADANCO has released new Excel based selection software for selection of Active Chilled Beams, Induction Units and Inffusers.  This program allows global modification of operating conditions to an entire schedule.  The level of user flexibility has been improved to speed up the time it take to complete whole buildings selections.

A report was published in September, 2008 by Yudelson Associates in Tucson, AZ for “The Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation” (MCERF).  The report discusses the European and North American markets as it relates to high performance buildings.  The differences in climate, culture, politics and economics between North America and Europe are discussed.   The report also discusses green building technologies currently in use in Europe with an emphasis on daylighting, green roofs, double facades and “radiant” systems (radiant ceilings, passive and active chilled beams).  Dadanco received mention as a supplier of active chilled beams on page 27 of the report and Dadanco's project at 250 South Wacker in Chicago, IL also received mention on pages 31 and 44.

Dadanco was a Gold Sponsor and participated in the USGBC Green Build trade show held in Boston, MA on November 19-21, 2008.  The booth included product displays and a classroom-like setting where presentations were given every hour throughout the show.

DADANCO has joined the U. S. Green Building Council.  DADANCO's active chilled beam system designs are being used in many buildings seeking LEED certification due to the dramatic fan energy savings over more conventional "all-air" systems such as VAV.
